Written to be read rather than skipped. What we take, what we do with it, who else ends up seeing it, and how to make us delete it.
The short version
You tell us about a move. We use that to quote for it and, if you book, to carry it out. We do not sell it, we do not pass it to other removals firms, and we do not put you on a mailing list. When it stops being useful we delete it. Everything below is the detail behind those four sentences.
Who is responsible
Removals Nottingham operates https://removalsnottingham.uk and provides removals, packing and storage services across Nottingham and the NG districts. For UK data protection purposes we are the data controller. Reach us at hello@removalsnottingham.uk.
What we take
From the quote form: your name, phone number, email address, the pickup and drop-off addresses, the moving date if you supply one, and whatever you write in the notes. If you ring or email instead, we take whatever you choose to tell us.
Separately, analytics records which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the visitor was, what device and browser they used, and how they arrived. That is aggregated and is not used to work out who you are.
What we do with it
Quoting and answering your enquiry is the main use, and it is what you gave it to us for. If you book, the addresses and access notes go to the crew because they cannot do the job without them. Records of completed work are retained for as long as accounting and insurance rules require. And reCAPTCHA uses technical signals to tell a real enquiry from an automated one.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the business, and — once you have booked — performance of a contract with you.
Who else sees it
Your enquiry goes to our own lead-handling system so a person can read it and reply. Beyond that, a short list of providers processes data on our instructions under a processing agreement: the website host, the email provider, Google Analytics for site statistics and Google reCAPTCHA for form protection.
Two Nottingham-specific things worth naming. Where a move needs a parking bay suspension, the application to Nottingham City Council includes the address and the date. And where a building has a managing agent or concierge, we give them the date and our insurance details so they will release the loading bay — never your contact details unless you ask us to.
On a move abroad, the information needed for customs documentation is shared with the relevant customs authorities and, where applicable, our agent at the destination. That is unavoidable on an international move, and we will tell you what is going before it goes.
Cookies
No advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site use and loads only after the page has rendered. reCAPTCHA sets cookies to assess form submissions. Block or clear them in your browser if you prefer — the site works without them, though the quote form may be less forgiving of an unusual setup.
How long we hold it
An enquiry that does not become a booking is kept only while it might still be useful to you. People come back weeks later when a chain falls through, so we do not delete immediately — but we do delete. Records attached to a completed job are kept for the statutory accounting and insurance periods and then removed. Ask us to delete sooner and we will, unless something must legally be retained.
Your rights
- A copy of what we hold about you.
- Correction of anything inaccurate.
- Deletion, subject to anything we are legally required to keep.
- Restriction of how we use it, or an objection to our using it at all.
- A portable copy in a machine-readable format.
Email hello@removalsnottingham.uk and we will deal with it at no charge. If you are unhappy with how we handled a request you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.
Security, and one request
The site runs over HTTPS and submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to quote or carry out the work.
The request: please do not send bank details, passwords or scans of identity documents through the quote form. If we genuinely need something like that for a customs declaration, we will tell you a secure way to send it. No web form is the right place for it.
Changes
Material changes get reflected on this page. Worth re-reading if you are about to send us a substantial amount of information. See also our terms and conditions, which cover the contractual side of a booking.
